20.01.2010 BOLETIN V del equipo dominico haitiano

We have received the news from our team which operates in Haiti. A part of it tried to get to Jacmel, but couldn´t get through, as the roads are very dangerous and the earth is going on trembling, and still opens up, which makes it imposible/difficult to reach the community.

Center of operation: Port au Prince
For the moment the team is in Port au Prince and its surroundings. We do have our center of operations in the building of CTH/INAFOS, which is in the road de Freres Pétion-Ville, Haiti, close to the hospital of the haitian community.

Furthermore we are giving assitance out of the catholic church of Mtissant and in the Hotel Royal of Carrefout.

Aid comes slowly
It was informed that the aid comes very slowly and that the people are in urgent need for food an wáter which is a inmediate need.

Infections have started to spread, a lot of flue, vaginale infections, infections of eyes and others more.

The team informed us that now they are giving assistance to more tan 600 orphan children in the zone of Leogane and around 140 girls and boys in Puerto Principe.

As urgent needs we do need:
• food in cans and other food which does not easily get spoiled
• clothes
• drinking water
• antibiotics
• pain killer
• medicine for vaginale infections
• medicine for eye infections

Currently our camps for attention do need a lot of goods.
